Teacher Training & Workshops

Persatuan Pendidikan Ilham works with teachers and schools to strengthen HOTS-based teaching, question design, and mathematics enrichment – so that competitions become part of a bigger learning journey.

Who it is for

Teachers, school leaders, and education partners

Focus areas

HOTS, algebra, assessment design, and competition preparation

Supporting teachers to teach for thinking

Ilham programmes are most powerful when they are connected to everyday classroom practice. Our workshops and training sessions are designed to help teachers bring higher-order thinking, problem solving, and rich questions into their lessons – not just into competitions.

Sessions can be run for individual schools, clusters, or partner organisations, and can be adapted to the needs and time constraints of each group.

Typical formats

  • Half-day or full-day in-person workshops.
  • Online webinars or blended formats.
  • Focused clinics for competition coaches.
  • Sharing sessions with teachers from different schools.

Sample workshop topics

Topics can be combined or adjusted based on your school’s priorities and the experience level of participating teachers.

Designing HOTS Questions

How to move beyond recall questions and create items that require analysis, reasoning, and explanation – aligned with the curriculum.

Teaching Algebra Conceptually

Strategies and classroom activities to build students’ understanding of variables, expressions, and equations, not just procedures.

Preparing Students for Competitions

Practical steps to identify students, structure practice sessions, and support wellbeing before and during competitions.

Using Mistakes as Learning

Approaches for using common student errors as discussion points and opportunities for deeper understanding.

How schools can work with Ilham

We welcome collaboration with individual schools, school clusters, state-level programmes, and education partners who share our commitment to meaningful learning.

Training can be linked to Ilham HOTS Quiz, Ilham Algebra Competition, or run as independent professional development sessions.

Steps to organise a workshop

  • Identify your target group (e.g. maths teachers, competition coaches, mixed group).
  • Decide on preferred dates, duration, and format (in-person / online).
  • Share your key goals or challenges (e.g. HOTS, algebra, assessment).
  • Contact Ilham to discuss a suitable programme and costing.

We aim to make training accessible and impactful, especially for schools serving underserved communities.
